Waitemata Surgeons are a group of general surgeons all with subspeciality interests who work together in the private sector as well as holding individual appointments at Waitemata Disrict Health Board.  We offer a comprehensive practice for all general surgical requirements.

Michael Booth MBChB FRACS

Michael Booth is a general surgeon with a subspecialty interest in upper gastrointestinal surgery.  he has a major interest in laparoscopic surgery including surgery for obesity (bariatric surgery), hernia, gallbladder and antireflux surgery.  He also performs upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.

His bariatric programme incorporates a dietician and procedures offered to patients include laparoscopic and open gastric bypass as well as laparoscopic adjustable banding.

Richard Harman BSc MBChB FRACS

Richard Harman is a General Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in  Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal surgery working closely with endocrinologists in this area (Thyroid Specialists)

Richard's other areas of surgical specialites are Breast Cancer (with Mercy Breast Clinic) and Melanoma surgery, having spent time with and maintaining close links with the Sydney Melanoma Unit and the NZ Melanoma Foundation.

Richard is also available for consultation for common general surgical procedures such as hernia and laparoscopic gallbladder procedures.

Richard Harman

Mike Hulme-Moir BSc MBChB FRACS

Mike Hulme-Moir is a general surgeon with particular expertise in the management of all colorectal disease.  Where possible surgery is carried out laparoscopically which minimises hospital stay, wound size and patient discomfort.  It also means a quicker return to normal activities.

Mike has a major interest in laparoscopic surgery including surgery for abdominal conditions such as gallstones, hernias and appendicitis.

His other main interest and area of expertise is the management of melanoma, including sentinal node biopsy. he is a member of the North Shore Hospital Melanoma Unit which is actively involved in melanoma research.  This enables access to therapeutic trials involving new treatment modalities such as vaccines.

Mike Hulme-Moir

Eva Juhasz MBChB FRACS

Eva Juhasz is a general surgeon with speciality interests in Colorectal and Breast surgery.

Her main subspeciality interest is in colorectal surgery with a mjor component of work being the management of bowel cancer.  Eva has been a contributor to international trials looking at the place of laparoscopic surgery in colorectal practice.  She is also available for colonoscopy.

Eva's other main area of speciality interest is in the management of breast cancer.  She has been a main contributor to trials looking at the role of sentinal node biospy.

Eva is available for management of general surgical conditions such as hernia repair and laparoscopic gallblader procedures.
